ELMO NERO vereint drei herausragende Persönlichkeiten der österreichischen Jazzszene.

Die Ausnahme-Bassistin, Komponistin und Hans-Koller-Preisträgerin Gina Schwarz, den virtuos zwischen verschiedensten Spielarten der populären Musik pendelnde Gitarrist Christoph Helm, sowie den feinsinnigen und experimentierfreudigen Schlagzeuger Max Plattner, der in der aufstrebenden jungen Jazzszene aktuell zahlreiche innovative Projekte vorantreibt.

Ihre unterschiedlichen musikalischen Einflüsse übersetzen die drei gekonnt in dynamische und energiegeladene Stimmungen. Dabei kreieren sie einen Sound, der das facettenreiche Spektrum und ihre improvisatorischen Fähigkeiten gekonnt verzahnt und das Publikum durchgehend zu unterhalten weiß.

The exceptional bass player, composer and Hans Koller Prize winner Gina Schwarz, the guitarist Christoph Helm who expertly oscillates between various kinds of popular music genres and the subtle yet experimental drummer Max Plattner who can be found at the forefront of young jazz in many innovative projects. With compositions and improvisations fed by a wide variety of influences they manage to captivate their audience and transform a seemingly familiar line-up such as the guitar trio into an exciting playground, where many a surprise awaits the listener!

ELMO NERO suggests a format of a classic jazz guitar trio, but this trio uses the rich legacy of this format as a playground for its own democratic dynamics and playful and highly melodic textures. The trio’s slow-burning dynamics stress a tight rhythmic sensibility and leave enough space for individual improvisations and are open for joyful surprises.
